“The Benevolent Gatekeeper”: How Harry Builds Control With The Mask of Advocacy
The loser prince wants power and now has a little M.O.
In the modern age of tech-nonprofits, the most powerful organizations don’t always build things, they point to things. They curate, mediate, and shape perception. They’re basically a bunch of rich people saying listen to us. We know better than you because we’re rich and you’re poor.
Through the veneer of altruism and the rhetoric of “helping,” they create platforms of sanctioned choice. Two prime examples of this model in operation are Travalyst and Project Healthy Minds. At first glance they appear as mission-driven initiatives; upon closer inspection, they reveal a pattern: the role of the intermediary of approval. Prince Harry being the common denominator, he’s got his M.O. down.
