Do People Just Want to Be Lied To? It Sure Looks Like It
I should just start lying to people like others do, making up tabloid like stories. it seems to work and the audience don’t seem to care they’re being lied to.
There’s been something going on in the last year that has really shown an interesting aspect of the anti-Meghan Markle topic and it’s where the audience wants inside information so bad that they’re OK with being lied to.
Not only that, but when you call out those lies, the audience will then defend the people who are lying to them. It really does seem that Stockholm Syndrome exists within the anti-Meghan and Harry topic.
So I just had to ask myself this question. “do people just like being lied to?” The main reason I asked that is because in my view of journalism and reporting I would never report something to my audience that is some kind of falsity or from a source that I just made up.
So when it’s obviously happened from other creators, and people fall for it, it does piss me off. Even more aggravating is those that are being lied to are defending those that are lying to them. It’s so odd to see it in real time. The weirdest thing ever.
Because really, I feel that would be the easiest thing in the world to do. Just make up things about Meghan Markle or Prince Harry and all I have to worry about in making the public believe is I just have to make them sound believable.
And that would be no problem, coming up stories out of nowhere and then claim that they’re from sources I have that I can’t name or tell you where I got the information.
And from what has happened in the last year when you look at the big Spring surprise which I myself was tricked by in the spring of 2024 by the person I will not name because their fans will just get pissed off about it, I think the answer is yes they do want to be lied to.
It seems people don’t want straight up truth. it really does seem like they want a tabloid version of the truth like the national inquirer or one of those magazines that you see next to the cashier at the local supermarket that will say the most ridiculous headlines about Megan and Harry so ridiculous that it makes them want to read it anyway.
I’ve come to the conclusion that yes people do want to be lied to they don’t care about the actual truth and they don’t care about people making up stories so maybe I’ll start doing it in the future since it’s so easy…..
Right?
So many stories coming out on Harry and The Meg, it is difficult to know what is true or not. My suspicious is Harry and The Meg release some false information to the public themselves via their PR. Yes, it was a real disappointment the Big Surprise most viewers expected did not happen, I believe the author loses credibility, just like the U.S. Nostradamus of Election telling people who is the next President of U.S. days and weeks before the election.
What was the Big Surprise? I guess I missed that; sorry. Thank you Andrew.
